A eutectic mixture of lidocaine/tetracaine (7%/7%) for topical skin anesthesia is now available for prescription in Canada. The product, Pliaglis from Crescita Therapeutics Inc., provides analgesia for dermatologic procedures within 30 minutes of application. The product dries in that time and can then be peeled off the site of application, leaving no residue or mess behind.
