Applications still open for the Canadian Skin of Colour & Diversity Research Scholarship

ree

There is still time to submit applications for the third annual Canadian Skin of Colour & Diversity Research Scholarship Program for dermatology residents, supported by Pfizer Canada.

Interested Canadian dermatology residents should submit their research proposals by September 2, 2025, to make a difference in dermatologic care for skin of colour.

As part of our shared commitment to empower dermatologists and advance Canadian healthcare and knowledge, an independent committee of dermatologists invites applications from residents across the country. Canadian dermatology residents are encouraged to propose innovative projects that address care gaps within skin diseases in underrepresented populations.

This scholarship aims to create an equitable dermatology environment, and applications that focus on improving dermatologic care for these populations, including Canadians with deeper skin tones, Indigenous people, and other racialized groups, are welcomed.

Selected recipients will receive the scholarship funds to support the development and implementation of their initiative.

What type of projects can be considered?

  • Projects should address an education or care gap specific to skin of colour and diversity not wholly or partially fulfilled in medical dermatology. It should not have another funding source.

  • A broad range of projects and scholarly activities are acceptable, including education, advocacy/awareness, research/registry, clinical/case reports, health quality improvement, or others that help address skin of colour and diversity gaps in dermatology education or care.

  • Projects that will have an impact (quantitative and/or qualitative) on patient lives and contribute to improving patients' outcomes.

  • Projects can be in different locations other than your residency and can include travel within Canada.
