In commemoration of World Vitiligo Day on June 25, dermatologists from the Vitiligo Working Group (VWG) marked the occasion by showing an award-winning video at the World Vitiligo Day National Rally on June 24–25 in Washington, D.C.

The VWG is a physician-led organization aimed at working to raise awareness and support for vitiligo through its global awareness campaign referred to as Step Up For Vitiligo.

Aimed at the public, as well as the dermatologic and medical communities, the campaign video called Vitiligo: Truth, Hope and Change includes several globally recognized vitiligo experts and a racially diverse group of vitiligo patients who share personal stories.

“We have assembled an impressive group of medical experts to champion this cause for raising awareness about vitiligo and the millions of people who are living with it,” said Dr. Henry W. Lim, dermatologist and chair of Dermatology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich.

“We are hopeful our campaign will lead to more research funding and developing new treatments for treating this skin disease,” explained Dr. Lim, co-founder of VWG.

The World Vitiligo Day National Rally and the presentation of the video is being hosted and led by VitFriends, a vitiligo patient support group.
